Peony Joyful Romantic is an Early Midseason double pearl pink Peony Herbaceous Hybrid. Flower size 4.5 inch / 11 cm. One bloom per stem. Three or four rows of smoothly rounded guard petals, about 2 inches (5 cm) in width, held cupped. Inner petals smaller, notched, somewhat ruffled. Lavender-shaded flares extend about 40% the petals’ length, which while not prominent in the fresh flower, serve to impart a lavender-pink glow from its depths. Has average 4 very hairy cream colored carpels (but small) with normal shaped pink stigmas. seeds not yet confirmed. Some stamens embedded among the petals, pollen-bearing where not transformed, filaments yellow. Staminodes also present, linear shape, same color as petals but edged yellow. Staminodal disc obscure. Fragrance. Early foliage emerges green. Upright growth habit, Average height 28 inch / 71 cm. Support not needed. First year bloomed 2015, first year propagated 2016.
